Elephant attacks are not at all a unique incident in the state of kerala, especially in the middle of an auspicious religious festival. But this particular news and picture dragged my attention when it appeared in Australia’s leading news paper ‘THE AUSTRALIAN’ in their world news section with great importance in all their editions across the nation.
This tragic incident has happened in my home town in kerala, literally couple of kilometers away from my home. It’s a huge concern why the authorities are less bothered about this kind of disasters. This might be a consequence of unscientific way of treating and training the animals. The way how mahouts are training this huge animal is by scaring him using this long stick, the old traditional way and with out knowing the bio- psychic condition of this wild creature. |
